How cold storage dehumidifier / air dryer works
What makes the workings of a cold storage dehumidifier so unique?
A dehumidifier used in cold storage works much more effectively under low temperatures, such as those found in freezer rooms. Every bit of moisture entering the freezer room can cause problems in the long term, such as snow, mist or ice formation. A dehumidifier/air dryer designed for use in cold storage offers a solution!
1. Example: AFIM® Air Dryer & AFIM® Air Door
Conventional air curtains are not strong enough to withstand the large pressure difference at the entrance to a freezer room. The combination of an AFIM® Air Dryer and an AFIM® Air Door allows the door to stay open for hours and from day to day without causing problems such as snow, mist or ice formation. Furthermore, the temperature is maintained even though the door remains open to allow for easy transport.
See the right side of the page for an example of this solution.
2. Example: without AFIM® Air Drying
When the door to the freezer room is opened, heat and moisture enters immediately. Depending on the difference in vapor pressure between the freezer room and the adjacent area, this often causes problems such as misting in the doorway and snow formation on the evaporators.

AFIM® Air Dryer & AFIM® Air Door
A cold storage dehumidifier is often combined with a way of closing off the entryway so ‘coldness’ is not lost while transport is minimally obstructed; think strip curtains, high-speed doors or air doors/air curtains. If one wishes to be able to keep open the door for free passage to and from the freezer room, then the combination of an AFIM® Air Dryer and an AFIM® Air Door is the perfect solution.
Without AFIM® Air Drying: misting, ice formation and significant energy loss
